Felt the same upon awaking but nevertheless set off in search of the
best chinese breakfast in town. blessed again by my lucky stars, just
next door was a ZaoDian (Chinese breakfast restaurant) which made
awesome XiFan (Chinese porridge) and adequate lamb BaoZi (dumplings), i
would be frequenting this place regularly over the next few days.
While resting in my hotel room i received a phone call from one Matthew McLauchlan esq. (soon to be my partner on the trip). Matty explained that in order to get my Khazak visa in Urumqi it would take me 3 business days, but that i need to get into Urumqi by that Friday to be able to get the visa back before the Chinese national holidays started. if i didnt get to Urumqi before Friday we'd have to wait another 8 days in Urumqi to get the visa - not an ideal scenario. Friday is 5 days (4 cycling days) away, Urumqi is 600km away, a struggle even if feeling well. Lets just say i woke up the next day, prepared to leave, but there wasn't the slightest chance of me leaving. I resigned myself to getting to Urumqi on Monday and begging the Khazak consulate for a quicker visa.
Rested impatiently 1 more day before deciding that day 42 would be the day i left Hami to continue my trip, whether feeling good or not. Needed to get to Urumqi to get that visa.
